Skincare is so important. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and you should be taking care of it. Since it’s winter right now, it’s very easy for your skin to get dried out. Well, that’s if you live in cold parts of the world. My skin right now is very dry, so my focus is on exfoliating and moisturizing. Those will be the types of products I will be sharing with you today.


  1. Laneige Sleeping Mask

This sleeping mask I have talked about before and I’m repeating it because it’s amazing! It’s not too pricey like some of the other masks you find at Sephora and it works so good! Best lip I have found so far! It’s not only moisturizing, but repairing as well! In the past, I’ve used all different brands of lip balm and found that they dried out my lips even more and even caused them to crack. But, not with this one!   1. OleHenriksen Walnut Transforming Scrub

Like I’ve said, because the weather is so cold right now it’s easy for your skin to become drying and flakey. I find this scrub works great for deep exfoliating and making you skin feel super soft. There’s tiny pieces of walnut in it that help to exfoliate your skin. I love this because you can really feel it working as you rub it into your skin. My hands get so dry in the winter… I hate it! I’ve been trying to find creams that can help me keep them looking their best and once I did I never looked back. I have been using this product for years now and nothing compares to it! It just hydrates my skin so well and leaves me hands looking soft and youthful! I just love it!   1. Urban Decay Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray

So again, winter = dry skin. This product is great for hydrating your skin and providing it with vitamins and antioxidants. I use this product with my beauty blender to make my skin look flawless and smooth. It can be used anytime, before or after your makeup application, to make your skin look soft and supple. I spray this anytime my face is looking a bit dry or it just needs an extra little boost and it makes my makeup feel fresher and so much nicer! 5 Healthy Habits You Should Start Now

To keep yourself performing at the best you possible there are some habits you need to start incorporating into your day. I find the 30 day challenge applies here. When you are trying to develop a new habit it’s best to make yourself do it everyday for 30 days straight to make it second nature to you. Why should you do this? Going after your dream life is a challenge in itself, but if you aren’t taking care of yourself in the process it’s going to become even more challenging. Taking care of your body and mind should always be you number 1 priority and here are some habits that can help you with that:

  1. Eat Fruit Everyday

Eating anything with live cells in it gives you instant energy. Eating raw fruits or vegetables is packed with vitamins your body needs to be performing at it’s best. It’s the New Year, so my goal is to get back to eating one apple a day and more salad. I have been indulging in a lot of sweets over the holidays, so now it’s time to retrain my mind to reach for an apple anytime I crave something sweet.

  1. Meditate Daily

Meditation is amazing. Like I’ve mentioned before, it just clears your mind of any overthinking or negative thoughts and allows you to focus on what’s really important. I like meditating as part of my morning routine. To learn more about my morning routine click here.


  1. Exercise 3-5 Times a Week

Find the type of exercise that works best for you and just do it! I know it’s hard and some days you just don’t want to do, but do it! Your body and mind will thank you! Not only will exercise help tone your body, but it will also help clear your mind and make you feel great! The types of exercise I love most are Kundalini yoga, running & taking my dog for a walk.   1. Drink Lots of Water Everyday

I can’t stress this enough! Drink water! There are so many benefits to drinking water, such as flushing out toxins from your body, weight loss, improved clarity, more energy, and more! I always keep a bottle of water near me and have basically replaced every drink that I used to drink with water.


  1. Make Your Bed Every Morning

This one may seem obvious, but so many people forget to do it. Whether it’s because you’re busy or just lazy, this crucial task of the day gets ignored. Making your bed is important because it’s one of those things that when you do it, you feel like you have accomplished something at the very start of your day. Which just sets you off to continue accomplishing things through out the day. Also, if you had like a really crappy day, there’s nothing better than coming home to a bed that’s already made and waiting for you.

January Favourites

It’s the new year and I haven’t gone shopping yet. I actually don’t plan on shopping this month at all.. so scary to actually admit that lol. I’m such a shopaholic, but being on my own now, I really need to think about getting my future in line. I have so many expenses coming up with the projects I’m beginning, that spending money on new makeup just isn’t in the cards for me right now. But, I still wanted to create a favourites for this month… so, I’m going to share the products that I have been loving recently. but, first.. here’s my all time favourite my little puppy, Gucci:


  1. Laneige Sleeping Mask

This mask is amazing! I am obsessed with sleeping masks actually. It’s like that lazy way to get your face to look and feel soo good! I use this in the morning, after showers and at night. As long as I don’t need to wear makeup after washing my face, I put this on. It makes my skin so much softer and helps hydrate it especially in the winter months.


  1. Tarte Lashes

I’m a big fan of Kat Von D makeup. I swear by her liquid lipsticks and love her liquid liner. The foundation is no different. I love the coverage I get from it and she has so many different shades that it makes it easier to match to my natural skin tone. Been wanting to try some more products of her, but that will have to wait…

Why Morning Routines Are So Important

You can either start your morning motivated and pumped for the day or you can dread it. The choice is yours. I understand that it’s not easy waking up in the morning with tons of energy and ready to do what you need to do. Honestly, life isn’t meant to be easy. Anything worth pursuing, like your goals, is going to be challenging. If it were easy, everyone would have the things that you want including you. But it’s not that simple and you must work to get what you want that’s the only way it’ll actually be worth it. Crushing your goals is difficult and if you don’t start your day right it can be even harder than necessary. If you spend your morning preparing for your day, it will change everything. Putting yourself in a mindset to conquer your goals will only get you there faster.

My morning routine has changed a lot over the years. I’m always trying to figure out what works best for me, so I’ll actually do it. You need to do the same as well. Figure out what motivates and energizes you in the morning and do that. It might take some trial and error, but keep at it I promise you it’s worth it. My morning looks like this: I wake up early and put on my YouTube playlist called Morning Routine. I don’t even get out of bed and I barely open my eyes for this. I just grab my phone, my headphones and get this playlist on. The playlist begins with a 6 min motivational speech that gets me sooo pumped and ready to go! It’s basically telling me to go out there and do what I need to do to get me to my goals. I am in the comfort of my bed and it’s like I have a personal coach motivating for my day. It’s pretty awesome.


Once that’s over, my playlist continues. This time it’s my meditation. I do a guided kundalini meditation, also in the comfort of my bed except now I’m sitting up, for 30 minutess. For those that don’t know what kundalini is, it’s the energy inside of you that must be awoken so you can be your best you possible. I will go into more detail about this in a later post. What this meditation does for me, is that it clears my head of all the mess. All the negative self talk, it removes me overthinking about what I have to do that day and it calms me completely. So, I began by pumping myself with the motivational speech so I can wake up and then I mentally prepare myself with a meditation. Once I am awake, calm and ready to receive, I move on to the next item on my playlist.

The next item is Kundalini Yoga. Yes, I’m a huge fan of kundalini lol. So, I just get on to the floor of my bedroom and begin my yoga session. This type of yoga isn’t too difficult. It is basically chanting and stretching and makes me feel amazing right after I’m done and during as well. In it, you do the kriyas (exercises) and take a break in between to absorb the energy you created. It’s truly magical and I can not live without it! After this, the final item on my playlist plays. It’s a 30 minute motivational compilation that continues to make me motivated for my day. I listen to this as I brush my teeth and wash my face, as I get Gucci ready for his day, and as I drink my protein and take my vitamins. I am currently obsessed with listening to motivational videos on YouTube and listen to them whenever I can. Also, after the playlist ends I grab my coffee and journal all my thoughts down. Just thought I’d add that in even though it’s not part of the playlist.

So, yup. That’s what I do every morning without a doubt. It really works and it makes me feel so good and so ready for my day. I love it! When you start creating your morning routine, create it with you in mind. What motivates you? What kind of exercise are you the most into? Also, definitely add meditation to your morning routine it will help you so much! And I will write a more detailed post on meditation soon as well!

What Is a Mermess?

I am starting the new year with a new affirmation.

I am a Mermess.

What is a Mermess, you ask? Well, basically I took two words and mashed them together: Mermaid & Goddess. Mermess. Mermess encompasses the type of woman I want to be this year. She is powerful, strong and has a little magic to her. When I think of the word Mermaid, I imagine this beautiful mystical creature that is alluring yet deadly. She swims fearlessly through the waters ready for the adventures awaiting her. When I think of the word Goddess, I imagine this powerful woman who doesn’t let anything stop her as she goes after her dreams.


This new year is all about empowering myself and as many people as I can take with me. I want us to be strong, beautiful woman or men who don’t give a f about what anyone else says. We go after our dreams without putting limits on ourselves and we accomplish more and more every day. Our time starts now. Our year begins now. This is the year we finally go after what we have been thinking of, what we have been dreaming of, what we just can’t seem to get out of our heads. It’s our time to show the world how truly capable we are.

I’m beginning a series on YouTube under my Fijian Mermaid channel called Mermess. It’s going to be all about how to get yourself in the right state of mind to conquer your goals. I will teach you how to stay positive and how knowing about the chakras can change your life. Not only do I want to teach, I want to share my passion with you. That’s why I’m so excited to be doing videos. I think there’s a difference between reading the thoughts of others and actually seeing them express them. You become excited when you see another excited, it’s natural. I just can’t wait to begin this series! The first video is up now actually. In it I’m explaining, in more detail, what a Mermess is and what it means to me. So, be sure to check it out!

December Book List

Something I’ve really fallen off the wagon about is reading books. I used to read books constantly. I would not start another book until I completely finished the one I was reading. And I would read it any chance I would get. At night before bed, if I woke up in the middle of the night I’d read till I fell asleep, first thing in the morning, and then whenever I could during the day. I don’t have a night stand table, so I would always keep the book with me in bed and that’s why it would be the first thing I reached for. I miss being like this. I attribute my reading to why I can speak so clearly when writing. I also found reading obsessively like this helped clear my mind. I would be so mentally wrapped up in the story I was reading, that I didn’t really have room to think about other things. That’s why I love reading. It’s like exercise for the mind.

Unfortunately, I no longer can read like I did before. I don’t know what happened. I feel like I have really lost myself these past few years and moving back home is helping me to rediscover myself. I mentioned in my YouTube video (which I will link below), that I have been only focussing on self-help books for the most part. I think maybe that’s my problem. I’m still continuing to be strict with myself because I feel as if my time should not be spent on frivolous things. Such as reading fiction. Even though, before, I adored fiction books such as The Wicked Years by Gregory Maguire. But, I’ve been really trying to pull me out of a funk and that’s why I have focused solely on books I feel that can help me.


The books that I am reading this month are:

  3. The Bhagavad Gita by Paramahansa Yoganda buy here

Again, I chose these books because I feel like they can help me and probably you as well. The first book is about stop the doubt you have against yourself and go after your dreams with full force! The second one is about teaching you how others have found success on YouTube and how you can as well. And finally, the third book is about learning the difference between your soul and ego and how to be more aligned with your true self.


I love books like these and always feel so motivated after reading them. I mentioned above that I used to read one book at a time. I have been struggling with that since starting to add reading to my daily life again. So, currently I am reading all 3 and choosing one whenever the mood strikes to read it. I think I might want to go back to reading till I finish a book and move on because doing it this new way feels like it’s taking me even longer to finish a book. I also want to add fiction back into my life. After writing this post I feel like I miss books of that kind and I need a little more magic in my life! My next book list will definitely be including fiction!

How To Stay Positive After A Breakup

I have just recently gotten out of a 4 year long relationship and I’m not going to lie, I felt really weird at the beginning. I have always been the type of girl that is either in a relationship or is wanting to be in a relationship. In other words, I  basically don’t want to be single. Being in a relationship has always fulfilled me or so I thought. I’m the type to focus on another person’s needs before my own. How can I help to make their day better? What are their dreams and what can I do to help make it a reality? I’ve always focused on the other person and ignored the fact that my own needs weren’t actually being met. And when I say this, I don’t mean the other person wasn’t meeting my needs. I mean that I wasn’t leaving energy of my own to focus on the things that really mattered to me. I also put a lot of my energy into seeking approval from my partner on the creative projects I did attempt to pursue. Huge mistake.

I’ve been in some tough relationships too and now it’s time for me to take a break from all the drama and focus on me. I’ve been in a relationship where the guy was supposedly cheating on me, there was one that was physically abusive, and then one that was mentally abusive. I feel as women, we don’t really feel comfortable talking about the negative things men have done to us. That is why when that hashtag #metoo was going around, it really made an impact. Anyways, I feel like I’ve gone off topic so let me get back to it. Being single for the first month felt weird. At the beginning, I so badly wanted someone, anyone to just comfort me. I didn’t think I could be strong on my own. But as time went by, I did get stronger. I realized I have never truly believed in myself or my dreams. Instead, I looked for validation that my ideas were even worth pursuing and that was just putting a cap on what I could achieve. Being single now, it’s finally the time to stop depending on a man to make me feel whole and to take back control of my life.

Here are a few steps that I took and that you can too to help you move past a breakup and become your true beautiful self:

1. Journal
Journaling has been the most important addition to my life. After a breakup, your emotions are so raw and hard to process. I feel like when ever I get overwhelmed, I sit down to write and all of the sudden I feel so much better. My issues that I’m going through don’t feel so big anymore when they are written down on paper and I can really analyze what I am feeling. This is how I move past what I am feeling and become more secure in myself.


2. Spend Time With Friends & Family
Something I tend to neglect when I am in a relationship is spending time with my family and friends. Now that I have moved back into my parent’s house, I am spending more time with my family than I have in years. And guess what? It feels great! There’s just something about spending time with like-minded individuals, this includes friends, that makes you feel whole again. It’s making me feel like I belong again and that feeling is so powerful.

3. Exercise
The best way to release pent up emotions is through exercise. So, find a type of exercise that works best for you and start implementing it into your life. For me it’s taking my dog, Gucci, for a walk and doing kundalini yoga. Walking with Gucci, either on a trail or just around the neighbourhood, makes me so happy! Just seeing how happy and excited he is to be out with me brings me so much joy! And then there’s kundalini yoga. I am a big believer in the chakras, even though I am still in the learning stages of it, and feel like balancing your chakras really do help to improve your life. Kundalini yoga is an exercise that helps to balance your chakras and I feel an immediate change when I am done a session. Any type of yoga or stretching is also great for releasing emotions and feeling more comfortable in the body you have.



4. Find Your Focal Point
What I mean by this is that you need to find something to focus on and only work towards that. What is it that you want to express during your time here on this planet? Who do you want to be and how do you plan on becoming that person? We create our lives as we go through the choices that we make. Everyday we are making choices that are creating our future. So, find a focal point and do something every day, no matter how small, that will help you get closer to that goal. For me, I want to start my own business and be more active on social sites. Right now I feel like my life is chaos because I’m trying to do all the things I’ve been wanting to do all at once. I think the beginning always looks messy and that you just need to keep working on it no matter what. After all this is your dream and no one else can create it for you.

So, there you have it. Just a few tips that I wanted to share that are helping me get through this tough transition right now.  I have put way too much energy into creating a relationship than in creating a career I am passionate about. So, now it’s time for me to switch direction. This is a good thing. I now can see that I have been stuck in the same patterns and it’s time to make better choices.
