3 Proven Ways to Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

Why should you reprogram your subconscious mind? Well, because your subconscious mind is what truly controls how you react to the world. Until you do something to change it you will forever be stuck on “auto-pilot”. In the first 7 years of your life your subconscious mind forms all of its beliefs. Through how you see other people react, you learn how to feel about things like money, other people, careers, and life in general. So basically, the way you react to situations now is a result of your upbringing. You didn’t actually get to choose how you want to be. It was all programmed into you as a child. Fortunately, you can change this. Of course, it will take time, but you can actively begin changing your life now through the tips I’m about to share.

So, I’ve had a negative association with money and it’s something I want to change in me. I’ve had too many negative examples of people with money, but I feel like money can be a powerful tool to help elevate you and the people around you. Problem is that my subconscious mind argues with me about this because of the examples I have let into my mind. I feel like everyone wants money, but not everyone knows how to get it. I definitely know that I don’t know how. I tried to be around people that could help me understand, but I feel like it’s a journey that you have to take on your own. In order to change my thoughts about money I first had to focus on more positive examples of people with money. People who were wealthy and were a positive influence in the world. People like Tony Robbins, Oprah, Richard Branson, Marie Forleo and Russell Simmons. People like them use the money they earn and put it towards creating a better future for themselves and others and are a great inspiration to me.


How to reprogram your subconscious mind:

1. Through Listening to Affirmations

Something I really enjoy doing is listening to affirmations on YouTube. I find listening to these at night while you sleep and again in the morning really help to change how you feel throughout the day. I am big into “I am” affirmations. Stating that you are something instead of you want something, will help your mind believe it is true and that you already have what you desire. For me, I want to build in myself more feelings of positivity, confidence and wealth; so, these are the types of affirmations I search for on YouTube.

2. Through Repetition

Listening to affirmations one time will not change your entire belief system. You must consistently work on trying to improve yourself. Repetition is key. This is why I am very aware of what I am consistently focusing on. I want to make sure the things I’m allowing into my mind are helping me and not hurting me. Again, this is why I love affirmations. If you are constantly repeating the same thoughts about confidence, happiness and success; it gets programmed into your mind. The more you repeat something the more you believe it. This also works the other way too. If you are constantly thinking about how you can’t do things, that you’re stupid and unworthy, then your mind will take this as truth. What ever you think about the most will become your truth.

3. Find Real Life Examples

So, my example is that I have a negative association with money. The people I knew with money were not people who I wanted to be like, so I assumed money was the root of the problem. But, when my intuition kept guiding me towards wanting more money I started seeing more positive influences and focused on them. I focused on people with similar stories as me who had difficult pasts but overcame them and became successful. This is what you should do as well. Focus on the people who you would want to be like. This is different for everyone. If you want to be happier, for example, focus on people who you believe are the happiest, so you can reinforce the belief in yourself that it is possible. That’s what examples do, they reinforce the idea that it is possible to reach the state you want to be in.

What Are Chakras

Chakras aren’t very common knowledge to most people. I know every time I talk about them, people never have a clue what I’m saying lol. Just like yoga and meditation, the chakras first came to us from India. They teach that the chakras are these energy vortexes in our bodies that align down our spine. Each chakra relates to a different part of your body and mind. The energy that theses vortexes suck in can either block your chakra or heal it, depending on the energy your have allowed near you.

A chakra that I know I have blocked is my throat chakra. Don’t worry I’ll explain the main chakras in more detail below. Anyways, I know my throat chakra is blocked because I can physically feel a heaviness in my throat area and I feel like I haven’t been able to express myself in years. When your throat chakra is unblocked you are able to express your truth and creativity freely. One way that I’m doing to unblock this chakra is by speaking my truth more and more through videos and blog posts. Since the throat chakra has to do with your voice, I always find singing in the shower helps too lol.


Here are the 7 main chakras:

  1. Root Chakra

The root chakra has to do with feeling grounded. It means you feel safe and secure in the home you are in and the body you are in. This is the base chakra that you must have fully healed in order to be able to fully express yourself in the rest of the chakras.

  1. Sacral Chakra

This chakra has to do with connecting with others and being secure enough to try new experiences. It is located right below your navel. You’ll feel more comfortable in social situations and be ready to say yes to more adventures!

  1. Solar Plexus Chakra

This is the third chakra and it has to do will feeling confident. If this chakra is balanced you will feel confident in yourself and your abilities. Your self-esteem will be at a all time high and you’ll be able to accomplish anything you set your mind to.

  1. Heart Chakra

When the heart chakra is balanced, you will be able to love fully. Not only love yourself, but have healthy loving relationships with others as well. This chakra is located, yes you guessed it, at your heart center.

  1. Throat Chakra

This chakra I mentioned above, it has to do with you being able to communicate freely. You will be more aligned with your truth and be able to share that with others.

  1. Third Eye Chakra

This is the sixth chakra and has to do with your ability to tap into your intuition. It is located at your third eye which is a little bit above the in between of your eyes. Being aligned with your intuition is important because you will be able to receive the guidance to live your best life possible for you.

  1. Crown Chakra

This chakra is located at the top of your head, hence named the crown chakra. When unblocked you will be connected to your higher self and more spiritual then ever. Apparently you will experience pure bliss and who doesn’t want that?

Honestly, I’ve been kind of embarrassed to admit how spiritual I’ve become. I blame this on my throat chakra being blocked lol. But seriously, I felt like I couldn’t share my new love for chakras because people wouldn’t understand or they would think I was weird. Talking about it more though has helped me get over this. I don’t care if people think I’m weird because I’m into things like chakras, chanting mantras and kundalini yoga. These are all just things I love that make me unique. And I’m so happy I’m finally able to share these interests without feeling bad about it.

My 2018 Bucket List

I’ve actually never followed through with a bucket list before. I’ve half-heartedly written a few, but never looked at them twice. For a long time I’ve had the feeling like I couldn’t actually do anything I dreamt of doing. Mostly I was insecure about finances. I always kept the mentally of lack. Even when I had money to spend, I still felt like I couldn’t afford to do the things I truly wanted to do. It sounds weird, but it’s true. I had kept this fear based response with me even when I had the freedom to do as I please and it was keeping me miserable. This year I have had a shift in my mindset. No longer will I allow any type of fear to hold me back from living my life exactly how I want to.


When you stop focusing on the money and start focusing on the feeling you get from doing the things that will make you happy, you free yourself. Everything starts within the mind and if I continue to feel like I can’t do it, I will continue not doing anything. So this year, that all is going to change. Not only am I going to write this bucket, I am going accomplish everything on this list to the best of my ability. 2018 is a year of opportunity and if you don’t take action the opportunity to do something great will pass you by.

So, here we go. This is my 2018 bucket list:

  1. Hiking in Whistler
  2. Bungee Jumping
  3. Ice Skating at Robson Square
  4. Weekend Trips Downtown with My Girls
  5. Mexican Vacation
  6. Visit New York City
  7. Horseback Riding
  8. Spend a Day or Evening on a Boat/Yacht/Cruise
  9. Plant a Garden
  10. More Dinner’s at Fancy Restaurants
  11. Go To a Burlesque Show


Okay, so there we have it that’s my bucket list for this year and I feel like they all are very doable for me. I kept it short so I would not overwhelm myself. What’s your bucket list for this year? Why Morning Routines Are So Important

You can either start your morning motivated and pumped for the day or you can dread it. The choice is yours. I understand that it’s not easy waking up in the morning with tons of energy and ready to do what you need to do. Honestly, life isn’t meant to be easy. Anything worth pursuing, like your goals, is going to be challenging. If it were easy, everyone would have the things that you want including you. But it’s not that simple and you must work to get what you want that’s the only way it’ll actually be worth it. Crushing your goals is difficult and if you don’t start your day right it can be even harder than necessary. If you spend your morning preparing for your day, it will change everything. Putting yourself in a mindset to conquer your goals will only get you there faster.

My morning routine has changed a lot over the years. I’m always trying to figure out what works best for me, so I’ll actually do it. You need to do the same as well. Figure out what motivates and energizes you in the morning and do that. It might take some trial and error, but keep at it I promise you it’s worth it. My morning looks like this: I wake up early and put on my YouTube playlist called Morning Routine. I don’t even get out of bed and I barely open my eyes for this. I just grab my phone, my headphones and get this playlist on. The playlist begins with a 6 min motivational speech that gets me sooo pumped and ready to go! It’s basically telling me to go out there and do what I need to do to get me to my goals. I am in the comfort of my bed and it’s like I have a personal coach motivating for my day. It’s pretty awesome.


Once that’s over, my playlist continues. This time it’s my meditation. I do a guided kundalini meditation, also in the comfort of my bed except now I’m sitting up, for 30 minutess. For those that don’t know what kundalini is, it’s the energy inside of you that must be awoken so you can be your best you possible. I will go into more detail about this in a later post. What this meditation does for me, is that it clears my head of all the mess. All the negative self talk, it removes me overthinking about what I have to do that day and it calms me completely. So, I began by pumping myself with the motivational speech so I can wake up and then I mentally prepare myself with a meditation. Once I am awake, calm and ready to receive, I move on to the next item on my playlist.

The next item is Kundalini Yoga. Yes, I’m a huge fan of kundalini lol. So, I just get on to the floor of my bedroom and begin my yoga session. This type of yoga isn’t too difficult. It is basically chanting and stretching and makes me feel amazing right after I’m done and during as well. In it, you do the kriyas (exercises) and take a break in between to absorb the energy you created. It’s truly magical and I can not live without it! After this, the final item on my playlist plays. It’s a 30 minute motivational compilation that continues to make me motivated for my day. I listen to this as I brush my teeth and wash my face, as I get Gucci ready for his day, and as I drink my protein and take my vitamins. I am currently obsessed with listening to motivational videos on YouTube and listen to them whenever I can. Also, after the playlist ends I grab my coffee and journal all my thoughts down. Just thought I’d add that in even though it’s not part of the playlist.

So, yup. That’s what I do every morning without a doubt. It really works and it makes me feel so good and so ready for my day. I love it! When you start creating your morning routine, create it with you in mind. What motivates you? What kind of exercise are you the most into? Also, definitely add meditation to your morning routine it will help you so much! And I will write a more detailed post on meditation soon as well!

What Is a Mermess?

I am starting the new year with a new affirmation.

I am a Mermess.

What is a Mermess, you ask? Well, basically I took two words and mashed them together: Mermaid & Goddess. Mermess. Mermess encompasses the type of woman I want to be this year. She is powerful, strong and has a little magic to her. When I think of the word Mermaid, I imagine this beautiful mystical creature that is alluring yet deadly. She swims fearlessly through the waters ready for the adventures awaiting her. When I think of the word Goddess, I imagine this powerful woman who doesn’t let anything stop her as she goes after her dreams.


This new year is all about empowering myself and as many people as I can take with me. I want us to be strong, beautiful woman or men who don’t give a f about what anyone else says. We go after our dreams without putting limits on ourselves and we accomplish more and more every day. Our time starts now. Our year begins now. This is the year we finally go after what we have been thinking of, what we have been dreaming of, what we just can’t seem to get out of our heads. It’s our time to show the world how truly capable we are.

I’m beginning a series on YouTube under my Fijian Mermaid channel called Mermess. It’s going to be all about how to get yourself in the right state of mind to conquer your goals. I will teach you how to stay positive and how knowing about the chakras can change your life. Not only do I want to teach, I want to share my passion with you. That’s why I’m so excited to be doing videos. I think there’s a difference between reading the thoughts of others and actually seeing them express them. You become excited when you see another excited, it’s natural. I just can’t wait to begin this series! The first video is up now actually. How To Stay Positive After A Breakup

I have just recently gotten out of a 4 year long relationship and I’m not going to lie, I felt really weird at the beginning. I have always been the type of girl that is either in a relationship or is wanting to be in a relationship. In other words, I  basically don’t want to be single. Being in a relationship has always fulfilled me or so I thought. I’m the type to focus on another person’s needs before my own. How can I help to make their day better? What are their dreams and what can I do to help make it a reality? I’ve always focused on the other person and ignored the fact that my own needs weren’t actually being met. And when I say this, I don’t mean the other person wasn’t meeting my needs. I mean that I wasn’t leaving energy of my own to focus on the things that really mattered to me. I also put a lot of my energy into seeking approval from my partner on the creative projects I did attempt to pursue. Huge mistake.

I’ve been in some tough relationships too and now it’s time for me to take a break from all the drama and focus on me. I’ve been in a relationship where the guy was supposedly cheating on me, there was one that was physically abusive, and then one that was mentally abusive. I feel as women, we don’t really feel comfortable talking about the negative things men have done to us. That is why when that hashtag #metoo was going around, it really made an impact. Anyways, I feel like I’ve gone off topic so let me get back to it. Being single for the first month felt weird. At the beginning, I so badly wanted someone, anyone to just comfort me. I didn’t think I could be strong on my own. But as time went by, I did get stronger. I realized I have never truly believed in myself or my dreams. Instead, I looked for validation that my ideas were even worth pursuing and that was just putting a cap on what I could achieve. Being single now, it’s finally the time to stop depending on a man to make me feel whole and to take back control of my life.

Here are a few steps that I took and that you can too to help you move past a breakup and become your true beautiful self:

1. Journal
Journaling has been the most important addition to my life. After a breakup, your emotions are so raw and hard to process. I feel like when ever I get overwhelmed, I sit down to write and all of the sudden I feel so much better. My issues that I’m going through don’t feel so big anymore when they are written down on paper and I can really analyze what I am feeling. This is how I move past what I am feeling and become more secure in myself.


2. Spend Time With Friends & Family
Something I tend to neglect when I am in a relationship is spending time with my family and friends. Now that I have moved back into my parent’s house, I am spending more time with my family than I have in years. And guess what? It feels great! There’s just something about spending time with like-minded individuals, this includes friends, that makes you feel whole again. It’s making me feel like I belong again and that feeling is so powerful.

3. Exercise
The best way to release pent up emotions is through exercise. So, find a type of exercise that works best for you and start implementing it into your life. For me it’s taking my dog, Gucci, for a walk and doing kundalini yoga. Walking with Gucci, either on a trail or just around the neighbourhood, makes me so happy! Just seeing how happy and excited he is to be out with me brings me so much joy! And then there’s kundalini yoga. I am a big believer in the chakras, even though I am still in the learning stages of it, and feel like balancing your chakras really do help to improve your life. Kundalini yoga is an exercise that helps to balance your chakras and I feel an immediate change when I am done a session. Any type of yoga or stretching is also great for releasing emotions and feeling more comfortable in the body you have.



4. Find Your Focal Point
What I mean by this is that you need to find something to focus on and only work towards that. What is it that you want to express during your time here on this planet? Who do you want to be and how do you plan on becoming that person? We create our lives as we go through the choices that we make. Everyday we are making choices that are creating our future. So, find a focal point and do something every day, no matter how small, that will help you get closer to that goal. For me, I want to start my own business and be more active on social sites. Right now I feel like my life is chaos because I’m trying to do all the things I’ve been wanting to do all at once. I think the beginning always looks messy and that you just need to keep working on it no matter what. After all this is your dream and no one else can create it for you.

So, there you have it. Just a few tips that I wanted to share that are helping me get through this tough transition right now.  I have put way too much energy into creating a relationship than in creating a career I am passionate about. So, now it’s time for me to switch direction. This is a good thing. I now can see that I have been stuck in the same patterns and it’s time to make better choices.
